FTP, which stands for File Transfer Protocol, represents the most famous method of sending web content to a hosting account. With an FTP client program that’s pre-installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can establish a connection to your website hosting server and copy all the web files that you need with several clicks. This is done using a simple-to-navigate graphical interface and it is as easy as dragging and dropping the files in question. The advantage of using FTP is that you will be able to create several FTP accounts, each one with a different level of access to your server space, so if you would like to provide someone with access, for example – a web designer, they will be able to connect only to a specific directory and won’t be able to access the rest of your web content or any other information, including private details. Three prerequisites are mandatory to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is normally an IP address or a domain name, a user name and a password.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

Our shared hosting plans will allow you to create numerous FTP accounts with just a few clicks of the mouse from the Hepsia Control Panel and to define what files and folders each one can access. There is no upper limit on the maximum number of FTP accounts that you are allowed to set up, so you can have as many as you need at any given time. In case you would not like to use a specific FTP account any longer or if a designer has done their job and you do not want them to access the website content any longer, you can simply delete that account. The Control Panel’s FTP section will allow you to check all currently existing accounts listed in alphabetical order, along with different options, which you can access with one click. You’ll be able to change the password and the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc. We also have an in-depth Help section, which will help you administer your FTP accounts in case you need to deal with any difficulties.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your websites under a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to set up a different FTP account for any of them, as we have not set a restriction on this functionality with any of our semi-dedicated server plans. You can do this via the FTP section of our easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the FTP accounts that you have created, together with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If necessary, you’ll be able to modify the password for a given account or to edit its access path with several clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account without any effort in case you don’t need it anymore – for example, if you have hired a web developer who is done with the Internet site and you don’t want them to be able to connect to your files anymore. For the sake of convenience, we have compiled different tutorial videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts effortlessly if you’ve never used a web hosting service previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS

None of the Linux VPS that we’re offering has a restriction on the number of FTP accounts that you can have at any given time, so you can create an account for each website hosted on the virtual machine, no matter if it is under a domain or subdomain. Furthermore, it does not matter which hosting Control Panel you will pick when you register – DirectAdmin, Hepsia or cPanel, since an FTP server will be set up on the VPS at the time of the installation of any of them. If you want several users to be able to set up an FTP connection to the very same folder using their own personal login credentials, for example, it will take a few clicks of the mouse to create an FTP account for each one of them. Deleting an active account or modifying the folder that it can access is just as easy and you will not encounter any difficulty, even if you don’t have any past experience in such matters.
